The signing of the Funding Agreement between the Ministry and the Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG) took place this morning.
This agreement guides the disbursement of the funding support by the government towards SVSG for their programs targeting ending violence, child protection, disability and community empowerment.
Over the years, SVSG has been working with the Ministry in its work on prevention and response to cases of violence and negligence affecting women, children and other vulnerable groups. The role of SVSG in achieving social development goals for Samoa is significant. Thus, the government has provided funding support of $500,000.00 to assist with their programs in response to cases of violence, awareness raising, counseling services and also to care for the children and women in the house of hope shelter.
On behalf of the government, the Hon. Minister Mulipola Anarosa Ale Molioo acknowledged the important role played by SVSG to support women and children affected by different forms of violence. In addition, she encouraged the organization to continue the good work they are doing.
In response, the President of SVSG, Siliniu Lina Chang, acknowledge the support provided by government and further explained their vision which drives the organization to continue to do what they do.
